Das wäre nicht verwerflich, schließlich gehört das zu unserem Bild der Türkei. Aber, dann wird Istanbul Sie überraschen! Vielleicht sind Sie sogar enttäuscht über die Modernität, Westlichkeit und Haute Couture.
Aber es gibt sie doch noch, die Facetten der Tradition. Wo Sie diese auf einfache Art finden können, zeigen meine Fotos auf dieser Website. Denn hier ist das Quartier "Arab Camii" portraitiert. Es ist gar kein eigener Stadtteil, sondern genau genommen der Name einer kleinen Moschee. Direkt am Goldenen Horn gelegen, an einer Schnittstelle sämtlicher Verkehrslinien. Hier wird noch traditionell gearbeitet, Handwerk für Schiffsausrüstungen bestimmt das Geschehen. Es riecht eher nach Vaseline als dass es nach Parfum duftet. Hier trägt man praktisch und strapazierfähig statt Design und figurbetont. Aber auch echtes Lächeln statt Coolness, Freundlichkeit statt Eitelkeit.
Diese kleine Welt fasziniert; Touristenbusse sind wo anders zu finden.

This would not be blameable; hence Turkey is part of this world. But, then the real Istanbul will surprise you! Maybe you will be disappointed because of the modern times, West European-like life and the haute-couture.
But they are still present, the facets of tradition. One place, where you can find them easily will be shown in my pictures on this web site. It is the quarter of "Arab Camii". Formally seen, it is the name of a small mosque but no district by itself. Arab Camii is situated close to the Golden Horn, at a junction of all transport lines. Here is craftsmanship located, supplying the marine industry. You can find the odour of Vaseline instead of the vapour of perfume. Dresses are robust and loose fit instead of charming and proprietary articles. But there is also much of true joviality instead of coolness; a warm welcome instead of vanity.
This little world of its own is fascinating; tourist-busses can't be found here.
